The graduate school is pleased to offer Graduate School Summer Research and Writing Grants at $2,000 each. The goal of these grants is to increase the support available to students working toward the PhD in fields where research assistantships and summer support are generally unavailable.
Students must be making good and timely progress toward their degree. They must have successfully passed their qualifying exams and have a program-approved dissertation proposal by May 2026. Students will submit materials to the graduate school through this application portal. Applications will require the following information:
- Abstract of the dissertation based on the program-approved proposal (approximately 500 words)
- Current curriculum vitae
- Current transcript or OASIS/STARS report
- Brief summary of funding to date. For example, dates of internal and external fellowships, RA and/or TA appointments, listed in a table format
- Signature page signed by the program’s DGS, the department chair, and the dean or dean’s proxy affirming that the student is making good progress to the degree. The template for the signature page can be found here.
